Treatments
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a gentle therapy that involves the strategic placement of tiny needles on specific points of the body. These needles help stimulate your body's natural healing abilities, promoting balance, vitality, and overall well-being by inducing the release of endorphins (natural painkillers) and neurotransmitters that promote well-being.
Not only does acupuncture help with pain relief, stress reduction, and improved sleep, but it also plays a vital role in supporting your hormonal health. By targeting key points related to hormonal balance, acupuncture can alleviate symptoms of hormonal imbalances such as irregular periods, headaches, stress, anxiety, and menopausal discomfort.
Acupuncture treatments can be booked as either an Initial Treatment (if this is your first time coming to see me) or as a Return Visit.
Initial appointments are approximately 60 minutes long and Return visits are between 30-45 minutes.
Massage
Therapeutic massage goes beyond relaxation to target specific areas of tension, pain, and discomfort in the body. Massage works by applying manual pressure and manipulation techniques to the body's soft tissues, including muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia. This hands-on therapy helps stimulate blood flow, release muscle tension, and promote relaxation. By targeting specific areas of discomfort or tension, massage can alleviate pain, improve flexibility, and enhance overall well-being. Additionally, massage can boost the production of endorphins, the body's natural painkillers, leading to feelings of relaxation and stress relief.
If you're seeking relief from chronic pain, muscle tension, or stress-related symptoms, this specialized treatment could be your key to a healthier, more vibrant life. I personally tailor each session to target your specific needs, using firm and deliberate pressure to get deep into your muscles and release tension at its core.
Massage treatments are offered in 60, 75, and 90 minute lengths. There is also the option for pregnancy massages of the same length to be booked!
Acupuncture & Massage Combination
Experience the harmonious blend of ancient wisdom and modern healing techniques as I combine acupuncture and therapeutic massage to address issues such as stress, insomnia, hormonal imbalances, and pain management. With a personalized approach and compassionate process, I aim to restore balance and alleviate discomfort.
When booking in for a combination treatment, there are options ranging from 30 minutes, 60 minutes, 75 minutes, and 90 minutes for the massage portion. Just remember to also add 30-45 minutes ON TOP of the massage length for the acupuncture side of the session as well! (I.e. a 90 minute massage and acupuncture combination treatment takes approximately 2 hours)
Schedule your session with me today and discover the transformative power of a treatment that combines both acupuncture and massage!

About the human behind the treatment
Paige Wiegand,
Dr Ac & RMT
Growing up active in sports, I have always been prone to injury and experienced firsthand the benefits of massage therapy and acupuncture. As a result, entering the alternative healthcare field was an easy career choice for me. A graduate of the 2200+ hours Grant MacEwan massage therapy program, I have been a Registered Massage Therapist since 2012.
As someone who loves to learn, after graduating from the Massage Therapy program I decided to go back to MacEwan University for the Acupuncture program. Having graduated in 2018, I have been working towards learning the best way to treat my patients with a combination of Eastern and Western medical knowledge. With a focus that has been predominantly on musculoskeletal issues and hormonal health, I have been striving to create the best possible combination treatment of acupuncture and massage.
Throughout the years, I have continued to learn more about massage and acupuncture by taking continuing education courses. My knowledge and experience spans a variety of different treatments as I love to learn about the human body and the many ways to help it move towards health.
Some modalities that I employ in my treatments include myofascial release, orthopedic massage, motor point needling, lymphatic drainage, craniosacral therapy, trigger point release, and cupping. I am also well versed in pregnancy treatments, having focused in my career on assisting women through the many changes that their bodies go through during the 40 week period, and after. Additionally I have spent time focusing on addressing issues arising from poor postural habits, helping my patients cope with the side effects of stress, hormonal imbalances, and helping treat scar tissue by reducing both its adhesions and appearance. With an outgoing, welcoming, humor driven, and laid-back personality, I am a firm believer in helping everybody achieve their health goals.
I look forward to helping my patients further their journeys towards health with a personalized and well thought out treatment plan!

Not at all! Acupuncture is typically a painless and gentle therapy that involves inserting hair-thin needles into specific points on the body. These needles are so fine that most people barely feel them during insertion. In fact, many individuals describe the sensation as a slight tingling or warmth, followed by a deep sense of relaxation. There can also be a temporary sense of a deep ache, itchiness, or a zing of electricity! Scientifically, acupuncture works by stimulating the body's natural healing mechanisms, including the release of endorphins (natural painkillers) and neurotransmitters that promote well-being. So, rather than causing pain, acupuncture actually helps reduce discomfort and promote overall health and vitality. Rest assured, you'll likely find acupuncture to be a soothing and rejuvenating experience!

Yes! I offer direct billing to many different insurance companies and policies.
It is a good idea, however, for you to check your policy beforehand to make sure of important information such as: if your policy requires a Dr’s note, if your policy covers the treatment you are coming in for, and if your policy actually allows for direct billing!

Absolutely! Acupuncture and massage are both incredibly safe and beneficial during pregnancy. Many expectant mothers find these therapies to be a gentle and effective way to alleviate common pregnancy discomforts such as back pain, swelling, and stress. With proper prenatal training and knowledge of acupoints safe for pregnancy, acupuncture can help promote relaxation, reduce nausea, and support overall well-being. Similarly, prenatal massage focuses on providing gentle yet effective techniques that cater to the unique needs of pregnant women, helping to relieve muscle tension, improve circulation, reduce swelling, and enhance prenatal health.
Closer to your due date, there are even specific acupuncture points that can be extremely beneficial when it comes to assisting the body with labor preparation!

Acupuncture is an incredibly versatile therapy with a wide range of benefits backed by scientific research! It can help with a variety of conditions and promote overall well-being. Scientifically, acupuncture works by stimulating specific points on the body (over 360!) which in turn activates the body's natural healing responses. Here are just some of the many areas acupuncture can help with:
Headaches: Acupuncture has been shown to reduce the frequency, severity, and duration of headaches, including tension headaches, migraines, and cluster headaches. It helps by promoting relaxation, reducing muscle tension, and improving blood flow to the head.
Hormonal Imbalances: Acupuncture can regulate hormonal levels and balance the endocrine system, making it beneficial for conditions like irregular menstrual cycles, menopausal symptoms, thyroid disorders, and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
Chronic Pain: Acupuncture is highly effective in managing chronic pain conditions such as arthritis, fibromyalgia, lower back pain, and neuropathy. It works by stimulating the release of endorphins, reducing inflammation, and improving circulation to relieve pain.
TMJ Issues: Acupuncture can help alleviate temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders by relaxing jaw muscles, reducing inflammation, and improving joint mobility. It can also address associated pain, stiffness, and difficulty chewing.
Stress and Anxiety: Acupuncture promotes relaxation, reduces stress hormones like cortisol, and stimulates the release of neurotransmitters such as serotonin and dopamine, which are essential for mood regulation. It can significantly reduce physical symptoms such as palpitations, sweating, and muscle tension.
Infertility: Acupuncture can enhance fertility by improving ovarian function, regulating menstrual cycles, increasing blood flow to the uterus, and reducing stress-related factors that may affect fertility. It is often used as a complementary therapy for assisted reproductive techniques.
Muscle Tension: Acupuncture helps release muscle tension and knots by stimulating trigger points and promoting better circulation. It is effective for conditions like neck pain, shoulder tension, and muscle stiffness.

It depends! The frequency of acupuncture or massage treatments can vary depending on your individual needs, health goals, and the condition being addressed. Generally, most people find that receiving acupuncture or massage treatments on a regular basis yields the most significant and lasting benefits. For maintenance and general wellness, a monthly session may suffice. However, for issues that are acute chronic, or specific health conditions, a more frequent schedule, such as weekly or bi-weekly sessions, may be recommended initially to achieve optimal results.
Whether you choose acupuncture, massage, or a combination of both, we will work together to make sure we find a schedule that works best for your lifestyle, budget, and goals.
